New in 3D Printing Thermoplastic Polyurethane: FDM® TPU 92A Elastomer

Stratasys Direct Manufacturing is now offering parts built with FDM TPU 92A Elastomer, in conjunction with Stratasys’ offering of the material for their F123 series printers.

FDM TPU 92A Elastomer is a thermoplastic polyurethane material developed for production of durable elastomer parts with additive manufacturing. The 3D printing material enables prototyping of high functioning, durable and complex parts with the expected material properties found in an elastomeric material.

Produce large thermoplastic polyurethane parts with FDM TPU 92A Elastomer with good tear resistance, fatigue, memory, and recovery associated with elastomeric materials. 3D printing parts with Fused Deposition Modeling gives you the benefit of speed and design freedom, providing new opportunities for elastomeric prototyping applications.

What is FDM TPU 92A Elastomer?

TPU or thermoplastic polyurethane is a type of elastomer material, a polymer with the property of elasticity.

Key Characteristics

FDM TPU 92A is an ideal solution for medium to large rubber-like parts. The material is an excellent option for applications in the transportation sector with high functional requirements.

Create geometries not possible with conventional manufacturing and other additive manufacturing options and get larger elastomer parts in hand in a matter of days vs the weeks required with tooling and molding operations.

Common TPU 92A Elastomer Applications

Due to FDM TPU 92A’s enhanced mechanical properties, this material is ideal for functional prototypes similar to:

  • Door trim & seals
  • Hoses & tubes
  • Airducts & bellows
  • Seals, gaskets & grommets
  • Windshield & side glass trim
  • Console liners & cup holders
  • Body panel seals & gap hiders
  • Grips & surface protection covers
  • Parts requiring living hinges
  • Dust covers
